Very small excerpt from "Awakening Spring"

We ascended the stairs in silence as I wondered what the night had in store for us. I knew something huge was about to happen. The boss hadn’t been this fired up for more than forty years. The last time had been when she lost half of her coterie when the Vietnam War birthed a generation of peace loving grunge dwellers that had changed the minds of some of the strongest vampires in history with their “killing is evil” propaganda. I had to be the one to deliver the news that fifteen of our own had stripped naked, grasped hands, and walked out onto the shores of Blacks Beach just as the sun crested the horizon. She still hasn’t gotten over that one. Woe to anyone that crosses her path wearing a tie-dye shirt.
